Research Investigations

Research into privately owned historical objects submitted to JCA Archives: photographs, comparative evidence, documented findings, and open questions.

Every object begins with a question

Historical objects brought to JCA by collectors and correspondents. Their photographs, the evidence we follow, and the findings that emerge. Investigations enter the public casebook after research, editorial review, and the owner’s permission.

A question worth following

An inquiry begins privately. Construction, inscriptions, materials, and published comparisons are weighed together. The owner receives a documented response. Selected investigations become public with permission, sources, and their uncertainties intact.

Clear findings. Visible limits.

Public cases present substantial probable or confirmed findings. A confirmed finding applies to the specific claim established by the evidence; it does not establish every aspect of authenticity. New evidence and dated revisions keep the record open.
